Target Market:

Also known as a target audience, a target market refers to the group of individuals a campaign is marketed towards. This can be split up into a variety of demographics and depends on the campaign's goals.

When a brand has a well-defined target market, it makes it easier to determine how and where to promote their products or services.

Below are some questions you can ask yourself to help determine who your target market is:

  1. Why do my current customers buy from me?
  2. Who are my competitors targeting?
  3. What are the benefits of my product or service?

After you start to gain an idea of who your target market is, you can narrow down your audience into different characteristics.

You can break your audience up based on:

  • Age
  • Education
  • Ethnicity
  • Gender
  • Income
  • Location

It’s also important to consider the personality and values of those in your target market. By doing this, you’ll be able to set more concise and targeted campaigns that actually reach those most likely to buy from you.
